General Support
Wireless Internet Common Problems/FixesNo internet connectivity;
A) Wait at least 10 minutes, occasional updates and maintenance to the Wtechlink internet work will happen periodically. Typically connectivity is resumed within this time period.
B) Should service not resume;
Ethernet Bridge Users WET11/(SmartBridges)
First of all, and we cannot emphasize this enough – All networking hardware (such as your wireless modem) must be on a surge protector or “transient voltage suppressor.” The latter should be found on the UL label on the bottom of your power strip, if you do not see something to the effect of “surge protector” or “transient voltage suppressor” then it is simply a power tab and not a surge protector.
If you have a battery backup system we recommend plugging at least your modem (wireless Ethernet bridge) into it. This should bring the possibility of hardware/software failure to an absolute minimum.
Failure to have networking hardware on a surge protector can cause them to loose configuration files, therefore effectively killing your internet connection and requiring on-site support from Wtechlink to reconfigure the unit.
1) Check to see if you have 3 lights on, it is normal for the LAN and WLAN lights to blink rapidly – it simply means data is going through, if all 3 are on and you are not connected then we recommend unplugging the unit (the supplied power adapter) for 10 seconds to restart it, also be sure that all connections are snug (be sure they are no more than finger tight, or you may break the hardware).
a) if LAN (eth) light is off then your computer or router is not connected, check cables.
b) if WLAN light is off (or in the SmartBridges slowly blinking) then it is likely a wireless signal problem or the modem needs to be reconfigured, they can sometimes “freeze up” and when restarted lose the configuration file.
2)Restart your other networking hardware (routers, switches, etc..) in the same manner.
3)Also try restarting your computer.
PCI/USB Card Users
1)Check to see that you are connected to a wtechlink access p int (SSID “wtechlinkXXX”) in your wireless connection manager found in the taskbar. If not be sure to reconnect to the SSID of the highest signal quality.
2)If no SSIDs show up, be sure the antenna connector is tight on the PCI card and that the connector is not damaged.
3)Restart the computer and repeat step one.
